Marketing Explained In 5 Minutes

I'm Ruth. I make websites and help small businesses promote better. Book a 1-hour consult with me to start.

Marketing is communication.

It’s the way your business communicates with your future customer. There are three steps to marketing for your business.

  1. Make a goal (what do you want and when do you want it?)
  2. Who can give it to you (the people you’re communicating with)
  3. Decide HOW you’ll communicate with them (content strategy – videos, blogs, emails, social, advertising)

These three steps will make up the core of your marketing plan. How ever you choose to promote your business is completely up to you.

Your marketing plan doesn’t have to be complicated. You can start small.

You can post one photo or video a day. You can post one blog a month. You can tweet, or you can follow hashtags on IG, and comment posts.

Just decide what you want, who you want it from, and how you’re going to ask for it. Then make a plan and stick to it.

Check out my IGTV for a 5-minute breakdown on the basics of marketing.
